Naga?s presence lurks ominously on this harmonious suling (flute) safeguarding the sweet melodies set to enhance a gamelan orchestration. The serpent-like creature lives in underground palaces and is worshipped as herald of fertility responsible for rain but also disasters such as floods and droughts. Nyoman Lentong invokes the presence of Naga with coconut ash to decorate this traditional bamboo flute of entertaining delight. The Gamelan is Bali?s traditional orchestra present at ceremonies dances and festivities. It is mainly comprised of percussion instruments and the suling enhances the hauntingly beautiful melody based on exotic scales.
